Memorial Day brings our communities together to remember and honor our fallen service members. Energy Transfer is proud to mark the holiday by participating in two special events that rely, in part, on natural gas liquids (NGLs) and refined products.
Energy Transfer is again this year is a national sponsor of the Carry the Load National Relay Race team to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and support their families. Founded by two U.S. Navy Seal vets, the organization hosts multiple events and fundraisers to provide active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices made by the military, veterans, first responders and their families.
Our team participated in both the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh routes, part of the 29-day relay event spanning 20,000 miles across 48 states to “carry the load” of military veterans who sacrificed for our nation.
This weekend, ahead of Memorial Day, several members of the Marcus Hook Terminal fire brigade will participate in the annual Marcus Hook Memorial Day Parade, showcasing our diesel-fueled engine as we drive through town.
Summer Celebrations Made Possible by NGLs, refined products
Memorial Day is often considered the unofficial start of summer. Many of the activities we enjoy – including the relay and parade mentioned above – couldn’t be done without NGLs and refined products.
All of the essential items we need to host picnics and get-togethers in our backyards and across our neighborhoods – coolers, koozies, plastic cups, cutlery and tablecloths – wouldn’t be possible without NGLs. Plus, it goes without saying that propane is a key ingredient for grilling burgers and dogs.
NGLs and refined products are also crucial for all the gear you’ll use this summer – whether it’s spending time in the pool with beach balls and rafts; hitting the trails for long walks with hiking gear and a backpack; or camping for a weekend with tents, coolers, camping chairs and, of course, portable propane tanks. If your summer to-do list includes car or plane travel or some watercraft and jet ski time, give a shout out to gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel for getting you where you’re going and powering your favorite watersports.
From the start of our Memorial Day weekend to the end of Labor Day festivities, so much of making summer fun depends upon NGLs and refined products. We wouldn’t have the holidays and summers we know and love without them.
